First Tremorr sent me some reference pics as well as other artist’s interpretations of his toon, Tremorr.
This is the thumbnail stage. Tremorr wanted his character to be swinging his mallet, about to hit the viewer’s head. He also stressed the importance of accentuating a certain, um aspect of Tremor. I sent him these three and he chose number three. I started working on it, but then it didn’t really work for me. I decided to take a picture of myself in the pose(I chose to spare you the horror of that photo) and realized it needed to be tweaked.
Added a bit more twist to it and I was very happy with the results. Reference is your friend!!! I sent this over and it got approved! Phew. Now if Tremorr had wanted the original pose, I would have gladly done it, I might have tried to argue for this one, but I try to keep the client happy.
A tighter sketch followed by finished pencils(digital). You might notice in the final pencils, there is more of Tremorr, I pulled back a bit so his elbow and hand were no longer cropped, Felicia suggested this and I think it makes it a better composition. Since I”m inking and painting it myself, I don’t create super super tight pencils, but I like to get it to a point where the client can see how it’s gonna look when it is inked.
Inked! Tremorr was a bit nervous that his SG would kill him if his character didn’t have the SG symbol, I left it out of the inks because I plan to paint that in and it didn’t need a strong black outline.
Some colors and …..
All Done!!! That’s the process! Thanks for checking this out!
